What to Expect

Celebrate Indigenous heritage and community through:

Indigenous Performances

From 12:00 to 2:00 pm, enjoy traditional performances by Indigenous singers and dancers.

Interactive Cultural Booths & Vendors

From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, explore hands-on activities that share Indigenous culture and teachings, and browse handmade goods from local Indigenous vendors.

New this year, the Healing Hands of Reconciliation project invites guests to reflect on the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action by signing their name and adding a painted handprint to a tipi canvas, which will be raised on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Witness Blanket Exhibition

As part of the National Indigenous Day of Celebration, visitors are encouraged to explore the Witness Blanket Exhibition at the Fort Heritage Precinct. This powerful installation, inspired by the stories of residential school Survivors, will be open to the public free of charge on Saturday, June 21 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

At 10:00 am, hear Elder Gloria share her words, take part in a smudge, and witness the powerful stories held in the Witness Blanket. We invite you to honour this important work of truth-telling, remembrance, and reconciliation.

Community Partnerships

This event is proudly presented in partnership with Desert Metis Creations, Creating Hope Society, and FCSS, with generous support from Dow.
