More on Seniors' Week

The FCSS philosophy is based on a belief that self-help contributes to a sense of integrity, self-worth and independence. Programs developed are intended to help individuals in their community to adopt healthy lifestyles, thereby improving the quality of life and building the capacity to prevent and/or deal with crisis situations should they arise.

FCSS is available to provide assistance to residents Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm. For support during these times, please call 780-992-6267.

Celebrate Seniors’ Week in Fort Saskatchewan

Join us June 2–8, 2025

Seniors’ Week has been celebrated in Alberta since 1986, inspired by the late Alice Modin’s vision to recognize the vital role seniors play in our communities. Nearly 40 years later, we continue that tradition by honouring the wisdom, experience, and contributions of older adults — right here in Fort Saskatchewan.

This year marks the 39th annual celebration, and we’re excited to offer two community favourites: the Seniors’ Tea, a vintage-inspired afternoon of music and connection, and Nominate a Senior, where residents can surprise a local senior with a doorstep plant delivery.

Seniors’ Tea 2025

Tuesday, June 3 | 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Dow Centennial Centre – Lions Mane Room

Step back in time with live entertainment by Richard & Deborah Popovich, vintage décor, and music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Free tickets available starting May 6, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Pioneer House.

Seniors are encouraged to wear their favourite vintage accessories — hats, brooches, lace gloves, and more.
